Development Engineer Cartridge Fluidics (f/m/d) -engineering/microfluidics/mechanical/german/material

Role:
For our client Roche Diagnostics based in Rotkreuz we are looking for a Development Engineer Cartridge Fluidics

Background:
Roche Diagnostics is providing Point-of-Care BGE systems for the measurement of blood gases, electrolytes and metabolites in human blood samples. In our R&D department „BGE Sensors Reagents & Processes“, we develop novel sensor cartridge designs, including the fluidic pathways of the samples and system fluids in the cassette. We offer a challenging position in a multidisciplinary field and the opportunity to take part in shaping the future of Roche Diagnostic systems.

The perfect candidate has a master or PhD degree in an engineering or life science related discipline and 3-5 years experience with microfluidic components. For the hiring manager PhD related experience or technical training is equivalent to job related experience. The daily business of this role includes testing in the laboratory. Experience in a GMP regulated environment is not necessary but a plus.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Work in an interdisciplinary team of development engineers to design a novel sensor cartridge for BGE systems
* Defining the test strategy in alignment with the development team and improving the test methods
* Characterization of sensor cassettes by both exploratory and protocol based testing, mainly for the (micro-) fluidic behavior
* Assessment of the test observations, especially with respect to fluidic performance, to improve the test methods and the sensor cartridge design
* Planning, execution, and reporting of the experimental studies for the sensor cassettes
* Composition, adaptation, improvement, and maintenance of the respective test equipment

Must have:
* Master degree or PhD in life sciences or engineering ideally related to microfluidics
* 3-5 years of work experience with microfluidic components, strong background in microfluidics. (Technical training, PhD related and/or job experience)
* Experience in defining targeted test strategies and test planning for fluidic performance characterization, understand testing as a key factor for successful development
* Experience with hands-on component analysis and functional testing including improvement and maintenance of the according test equipment
* Ability to understand requirements from various disciplines like mechanical construction, material science, and the application of the sensor cartridge, and ability to relate them to the daily work
* Highly motivated to deliver results for the development and ability to find passion in promoting and driving fast-paced and ambitious projects
