For our customer a big pharmaceutical company in Basel we are looking for a highly qualified I2S Lab Manager (m/f/d).

This position is located at the Investigative and Immunosafety Chapter within the Pharmaceutical Sciences function of pRED in Basel, where the development and application of in vitro safety assays during pre-clinical drug development is a primary focus.

The perfect candidate:
The perfect candidate: has more than 5 years working experience in a laboratory environment. Additionally, the candidate is comfortable communicating in German and English. Exceptional organizational and structured working skills are a part of the candidate skill set, as well as proactiveness and self-drivenness. Lastly, the candidate is a problem solver and helps support a working laboratory.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Act as a go-to-Person for all lab staff incl. Onboarding and Offboarding
  * Coordinate lab equipment maintenance and corresponding document management (Planning, contracts, calibration, service, repair, visitor parking and badge) including responsibility for SED (Scientific Equipment database)
  * Coordinate lab maintenance (cleaning campaigns, defrosting freezers, rotation of lab duties,…) with lab staff
  * Be part of a community of practice and interface with other pRED Lab Managers and pRED center
  * Support the department move to the pRED Center, interfacing with workstreams and D-WoW as a 2023-2024 priority.
  * Ordering: Placing and expediting orders in consultation with research associates. Tracking delivery of supplies and informing requesters in case of delay.
  * Shipments: Coordinating material / sample transfers in collaboration with the PS shipment team
  * Be accountable for infrastructure, Asset & Equipment Management
  * Interface with central site and global services: Procurement, Basel Site SHE, Site Logistics and other as required
  * Communication and coordination with cleaning staff
  * Eventually act as safety officer (e.g. self-inspections) in line with the department´s SHE (safety, health and environment) responsibles
  * Train new Lab managers if necessary

Must Haves:

• completed vocational training or technical degree
  * min. 5 years professional experience
  * proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office tools
  * comfortable communicating in German (fluent) and English (fluent)
  * exceptional organizational and structured working skills
  * proactive and self-driven
  * problem solver and help support a working laboratory
  * flexibility, with a strong sense of prioritization and time-management
  * friendly and approachable persona with good interpersonal and communication skills
  * Experience working in a laboratory environment is an advantage
  * working with diverse and international teams
  * exploring new opportunities to extend your skill set and to continuously learn

Nice to have:

• BSL2 experience
  * Experience working in a laboratory environment or procurement in pharmaceutical industry
