This position is located in Basel in a chapter within the Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) function, where genetic and genomic biomarker development and implementation in pre-clinical and clinical studies is a primary focus. We closely collaborate with our therapeutic areas and functions to convert hypotheses into innovative therapeutics.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Lab Technician to join our team in the PS Genetics & Genomics chapter at Pharmaceutical Sciences who will support us in establishing standardized genomic (next generation sequencing) services to support internal discovery research in pRED.

Ideal candidate:
To support a transition in the department, we are looking for Lab technicians with minimum 2/3 years of relevant experience in Next Generation Sequencing. The successful candidate will have a biological education and proven track record of lab work. This person should be comfortable with NGS, RNA/DNA sample and library generation.

Tasks & Responsibilities
* The execution of standard next generation sequencing applications (eg. RNAseq)
* Scientific and technical contribution to experimental design
* Set up and maintenance of lab equipment and infrastructure, ensure compliance with local requirements
* Fit for purpose sample storage and handling of DNA and RNA samples during analysis.
* Correct assay documentation and FAIR data generation.
* Performing assigned tasks independently, on time and within forecasted budget
* Showing flexibility in developing skills in needed subject areas, technologies or approaches and applying them in projects to support the needs of pRED
* Showing flexibility in working with other groups in PS BiOmics&Pathology and throughout pRED to meet needs of pRED portfolio.
* Training of other technicians and/or students.

Must haves:
* Associate Degree or Bachelor in Science in a relevant biological discipline
* Proven track record of experience in Next Generation Sequencing (in all phases)
* Hands on proven experience with RNA sample (DNA/RNA Extraction, library generation & sequencing)
* Min 2/3 year in relevant similar experience
* Strong molecular biology laboratory skills
* Experience in sequencing data QC
* Problem solving and organizational skills are highly desirable.
* Familiarity with databases, tools, and resources commonly used in interpretation of genomic data is plus.
* Fluency in spoken English and good communication and presentation skills are required
* Quality and customer oriented mindset
* High spirit of collaboration and ability to work in a highly self-managed manner in an agile matrix team with sense of urgency and ability to deal with complex situations.
