For our customer a big pharmaceutical company in Basel we are looking for a highly qualified Operational Project Manager.

Background:
This position will be part of the project organization of D-WoW, Digital Ways of Working at pRED Center, which is responsible for delivering state-of-the-art digital solutions enabling the efficient usage of the new flexible lab environment in the new research facilities, pRED Center, in Roche, Basel. The project runs as part of the Pharma Research & Early Development (pRED) organization. The project applies IT solutions at the edge between IT and the physical environment in the pRED R&D labs and strongly focuses on operational activities in the labs (logistics, connectivity, planning, etc.). The project is running since 2020, is currently in the main development phase, and will enter the transition phase by end of 2023 when the developed solutions are released and installed in the new environment. For the management of the project, hybrid project management methodologies are applied combining elements of the SAFe framework (scaled agile framework) with waterfall project management depending on the need of the teams and project phases. The team is very diverse (∼ 80 team members) and globally distributed with its core and team space in Basel. For the operational project manager role, we are looking for a successor to accompany the project through the remaining project phases. The operational project manager will be part of the PMO (project management office) supporting the strategic project manager, the IT project manager, and the project management officer with a focus on guiding the project team in terms of methodology, processes, quality, execution, controlling, etc.

The perfect candidate:
We are looking for an experienced project manager with a profound knowledge of hybrid project management capable of bridging the virtual IT world to the real, physical world of modern R&D labs. The role of the operational project manager requires a structured and self-organized way of working with strong (agile) leadership and communication skills.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Organize, facilitate, and coordinate cross-team meetings (ceremonies) such as program increment planning, system demo, scrum-of-scrum, sync meetings, and governance meetings
* Responsible for transparency on the project timeline, budget, and quality
* Responsible for risk management and quality assurance
* Guide and support the teams in terms of project management methodologies (hybrid: agile and waterfall)
* Manage, lead and coordinate a diverse, international team distributed across many functions, companies and hierarchies

Must Haves:
* Min, Bachelor degree or similar educational background including PMP/PMI Certification or similar certification
* Min. 5+ years of experience in managing large IT projects ideally in a hybrid environment (agile and waterfall), preferred in the regulated industry
* Hands-on knowledge of the SAFe framework and basic waterfall project management methods
* Strong knowledge of basic IT development and delivery methodologies (e.g. DevOps, CI/CD or similar)
* Good knowledge of state-of-the-art IT infrastructure concepts and edge IT technologies (e.g. IoT, etc.)
* English and German and fluency in spoken and written
* Strong coordination skills with multiple and diverse related projects and stakeholder groups
* Strong communication and leadership skills in an diverse, international and multicultural environment
* Proactive team player who is able to prove flexibility
* Structured and self-organized way of working
