For our client in the Roche Rotkreuz based in Rotkreuz we are looking for a Vision System Development Engineer (f/m/d)

Background:

The Analytical systems at Roche Diagnostics are fed with the sample material by sample containers. Worldwide there exist way more than 1000 different sample container types. To identify and handle these sample containers the Roche Systems use different inputs. From barcode readers to vision systems. The AutoID and Sample Quality department is a multi-disciplinary team situated at two different sites of our company. We provide platform elements to different project teams within the IVD business. In our expertise lie barcode reader components, RFID systems and vision systems.
You are a development engineer with experience in computer vision preferably with experience in the IVD industry or regulated environment. You will work on computer vision systems that enable the IVD systems to identify and handle sample containers. You will work closely with the complaint resolvement department and experienced development engineers to optimize the systems. You are the key player in communication with the system integration team.

The Hiring Managers are looking for a quick learner who is able to grab the essence of existing computer vision „code“ which is „written“ in the proprietary software of the camera provider. The candidate is interested in hardware as well as software development of integrated systems. The candidate is reliable and a teamplayer. The candidate has the confidence to take decisions at his level of work. The candidate is expected to speak up and address blockers quickly to the responsible persons. The candidates main contact points are the experienced vision system developers for learning, the technical project managers for milestone alignment and the complaint resolvement department to get an understanding of the issues.

Tasks & Responsibilities
* Plan and execution of the work packages within area of responsibility including reporting and escalation of issues to the management
* Subject matter expert for communication protocols between instruments and laboratory information systems (LIS). Provide guidance and support to others. Flexibility to transfer knowledge to different tasks/subprojects within system integration.
* Experimental design and execution of the experiments in the lab. Creation of test cases based on product requirements. Execution of test cases, analysis of the results and creation of the respective regulatory documents. Issue tracking and verification of bug fixes/anomalies.
* Generate required documentation/procedures/technical reports in support of daily activities and be able to author official documents in English (e.g. design history files) for the preparation of milestones. Prepare and deliver presentations of project results to your own and other groups.
* Coordinate efforts with other functional areas to accomplish tasks: Hardware-, Software-, Consumables-, Assay- and Algorithm-Development.
* Setting up the network and installation of devices (e.g.Firewall)

Must Haves:
* Degree in a technical or life sciences discipline (e.g. Software- or Electrical Engineering, Electronics or Automation, Bio- or Process-Engineering,) or corresponding job experience.
* At least 3 years experience and willingness to work in a highly regulated industry
* At least 2 years experience with computer vision systems
* Interest in the resolution of technical problems and in interdisciplinary teamwork (laboratory, software, automation)
* Good communication skills
* Fluent in English

Nice to Haves
* Experience with cognex In-Sight Explorer or other smart camera with onboard processing.
* Experience in IVD workflows
* Experience with version control systems
* Fluent in German
* Previous experience at Roche
